Miss Taylor told us that we would need something to cover our eyes. A surprised murmur rose up from Room 7 as the bell rang for morning tea. We all jumped outside unaware of the what we were all excited for…
I could smell the bitter fruit, it was strong and sour. From just the first sniff I could tell what it was. It smelt so bitter that my nose was burning. The sourness overwhelmed me even though it was just a slice.
When it was time to feel it most people were still puzzled but I knew for sure what it was. It felt like a semi circle with juice coming out of it. It had a squishy part and a hard part. The squishy part felt like little diamonds joined together and the hard part felt smooth and thick.
Then we took a bite of this peculiar fruit. It made shivers in everyone’s spine. The bitterness made us shake. It tasted sour and bitter like those sour lollies you buy at the store. The bitter disgusting feeling shot through me like a bullet.
We uncovered our blindfolds and screams of shock were sounded. What we were eating looked yellow and wet as we held it in our hands other kids started eating the whole thing. I ate it too.
The lemon tasted horrible. I hated it but it didn’t stop me from eating the whole thing.
